With the season looming, we’ve drawn up our best XI during the 2024/25 pre-season.
Manchester United Football Club have now completed their pre-season. The Red Devils put in some mixed performances, with a real wide array of results following as a result. The Old Trafford side were successful against Rangers and Real Betis, though defeats to Arsenal, City and Liverpool shows that Erik ten Hag’s side still have some way to go.
With the Community Shield now over and the countdown to the season now on, we’ve decided to draw up our best XI from the friendly games United have played so far. There’s some promising players for the future included, while some household names also get the nod.
Anyway, without further ado, let’s give you the full run down of our most impressive XI.
Check out our best pre-season MUFC XI here:
Radek Vitek is in. He was outstanding against Rosenborg and quite frankly, he showed me more than any other keeper did during the tour. This young man certainly has a bright future within he sport, albeit I don’t think he’ll ever get a fair crack at the whip at Old Trafford.
Harry Amass started slowly but grew into his left-back role as the tour went on. By the end, he looked like a confident player who had learnt a lot. Diogo Dalot gets the nod at right-back, by virtue of the fact he’s the last man standing. Leny Yoro is included purely due to that half of football he played against Rangers, while Harry Maguire looked pretty decent over in the US.
Toby Collyer was probably the standout performer in midfield over the summer. He looked super calm and composed on the ball, comfortable when under pressure and solid in his defensive duties. Next to him we have Maxi Oyedele who also looked like he improved a lot over the last month or so, with Mason Mount completing the midfield trio.
Up top, United had very little options to choose from, hence Jadon Sancho in the false 9 was probably about as good as it got. Amad looked excellent off the right-hand side for large portions, while Marcus Rashford definitely looked more confident than he did last term.
