Man United have been interested in Manuel Ugarte recently, while apparently, that interest in mutual.

Over the last few days, Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign Manuel Ugarte from PSG. The midfielder joins a long list of apparent transfer targets for the Old Trafford club.

United are said to be in contact with PSG over a move to potentially sign the man from Uruguay, as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his midfield options.

Now, @UruguayFichajes, per the MEN Live Blog, have provided an update on that front. They claim that the player ‘would love’ to play for United amid interest from the Reds in his signature.

Ugarte’s agents apparently see Old Trafford as an ‘ideal destination’ for transfer, while PSG will listen to offers, as the player is not currently in their plans.

Honestly, this is all encouraging stuff from a United perspective. Ugarte is an excellent defensive midfielder who’d certainly fill a hole within this current squad.

United need a player who can sit just in front of the back four and mop up all the loose balls. The fact that PSG have deemed Ugarte surplus to requirements also hints that he could be available for a fee lower than his typical market value.

Hopefully, INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe can work some magic and acquire Ugarte sooner rather than later, allowing United to move onto other potential transfer targets.
