Former Los Angeles Lakers player and current radio broadcaster Michael Cooper has offered sharp criticism of Luka Doncic.
On his Showtime podcast, Cooper acknowledged Doncic’s scoring ability but took issue with his defensive effort.
Cooper remarked (h/t Lakers Nation), “Luka [Doncic] gives you that triple-double almost about every night, but he’s too slow for me. If he wasn’t a scorer, I would cut him.” He added, “I give him credit for that, but to me, he’s lazy. Doesn’t hustle back on defense.”
Doncic, known for his prolific scoring, averaged 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 9.8 assists in 37.5 minutes per game this past season.
Cooper’s critique highlights a perceived deficiency in Doncic’s defensive play. According to Cooper, Doncic’s pace and defensive effort fall short of his expectations.
