Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks got past the Thunder in Oklahoma 119-110 in Game 2 and tied the series 1-1.
Doncic delivered for the Mavs, putting up 29 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists. PJ Washington was the game-changer as he finished the game with 29 points and seven threes. From the Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander flirted with a triple-double himself (33 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists), but it wasn’t enough.
Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to the Mavs’ big Game 2 win.
Kyrie Irving only had 9 points but was sensational tonight. Brought it in every other way. 11 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals. Big-time difference maker on-ball and off-ball. Set a tone for the Mavericks. pic.twitter.com/3688a7QiNO

the mavericks defense continually does this thing where they decide the other team just isn’t scoring for four minutes. they had at least three of those stretches tonight. and when I meant “isn’t scoring” I’m being literal. Like zero or one field goal allowed in those stretches.

MAVERICKS IN 6.
Thunder are not like that.

We were bound to lose a playoff game at some point, kept it within reach for the whole night despite insane shooting from the Mavericks
All good, we’ll be alright

“I think that was one of the hardest games I’ve had to play. I’m battling out there. Trying to do my best to help the team win. It’s just my mentality to have a great start and then team is going to follow me.”
A very honest post-game reaction from Luka Doncic. #OneForDallas pic.twitter.com/1nJd1xSOrM

Most games in NBA playoff history with
25+ PTS • 5+ REB • 5+ AST • 5+ 3PM:34 — Steph Curry (147 GP)
10 — James Harden (166 GP)
9 — Luka Doncic (36 GP) pic.twitter.com/spSuLcbafW— StatMamba (@StatMamba) May 10, 2024
Luka Doncic mentioned using a courtside fan as motivation, who made comments about his family. He called it “nuts” for a “grown ass man” to speak that way.

I don’t think anyone is saying the Thunder lost because of the refs. The Thunder lost because PJ Washington and Tim Hardway Jr. turned into Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Shit happens. It’s the NBA. Mavs were on fire. https://t.co/APbxK4hkZX

I understand what the numbers say, he’s not shooting well with dallas, but it blows my mind that PJ washington at times gets the tony allen treatment. he scored 43 points in a game five months ago. he’s a talented offensive player! I swear he is!
— Josh Bowe (@Boweman55) May 10, 2024
PJ Washington and Tim Hardaway Jr combined for 46 points and shot 9-15 from 3.
Mavs shot 18-37 from 3.
OKC shot 10-30 from 3.
That was the story of the game.

If PJ Washington is Steph Curry the rest of the series we are screwed.
— George Stoia III (@GeorgeStoia) May 10, 2024
PJ Washington tonight:
29 PTS
11 REB
7-11 3PThe first player with 10+ REB and 7+ 3P in a playoff game since Steph in the Finals. https://t.co/rXpTZLaCBu
— StatMuse (@statmuse) May 10, 2024
PJ Washington is everything I hoped he’d be in a winning situation.
— Kevin O’Connor (@KevinOConnorNBA) May 10, 2024
So far the obvious difference is PJWashington’s 7 threes.
— Skip Bayless (@RealSkipBayless) May 10, 2024
PJ Washington.
Tim Hardaway Jr.
Josh Green.
That’s all I have to say…
