The New York Giants announced on Wednesday evening that they have claimed cornerback Mario Goodrich off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles.

The 24-year-old Goodrich originally signed with the Eagles as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Clemson in 2022. He appeared in just four regular season games (one start) over his two NFL seasons, recording five tackles (three solo).

During his four games in 2023, the 6-foot, 186-pound Goodrich allowed 11 receptions on 11 targets for 109 yards and two touchdowns. He earned an overall Pro Football Focus grade of 50.4 (48.6 in coverage).

With the Giants, Goodrich will compete with a young and inexperienced group for the chance to win a roster spot. His ability to play special teams should help that cause.

In a corresponding roster move, defensive back Stantley Thomas-Oliver has been released with a non-football injury designation.

Thomas-Oliver was signed to the Giants’ practice squad last October and later signed to a reserve/future contract. He was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list last week with a groin injury.
