If you were to take a quick glance at the box score from Thursday night, New York Giants nose tackle Dexter Lawrence seemingly had no impact against the Dallas Cowboys.
Lawrence finished the game with two tackles (two) solo and one QB hit. That was it.
Cowboys rookie Cooper Beebe was credited with shutting Lawrence down, limiting the All-Pro to zero pressures on 22 pass-blocking snaps. But there’s more than meets the eye and Lawrence refutes the perception that he was shut down.

This is where the analytics and film differ.
Even to the naked eye, it was apparent the Cowboys game-planned around Lawrence specifically. It appeared Lawrence was doubled teamed on nearly every single snap and as it turns out, that was close to reality.

It’s hard to tout a dominating individual performance when no such performance existed. It took two Cowboys to slow Lawrence down and they should have paid the consequences for that, but the Giants managed just three QB hits and one sack (Kayvon Thibodeaux) as a team.
