Welcome back to Friday Statwatch, where our statistical lens is focusing this week on the grade levels of the best goals-scorers thus far this season. You would normally think that this statistics is senior-laden. But far from it. Anna Fisher, the nation’s leader thus far, is a junior. Liv Hess, who has 41 this year, is a sophomore. Bella Boyle, who is just one behind, is just a ninth-grader.
As much as we’ve been mulling over how defenses seem to be making some ground after being downtrodden during the Score-O Decade, a new generation of scorers seems to be making their way through the scholastic ranks, which will made the next few years all the more exciting.
Below is a compilation of available field hockey statistics through this past Wednesday from available sources such as Berks Game Day, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, New Jersey Advance Media, the governing bodies of Kentucky and Michigan, and, of course, the easy-to-use MaxPreps.com platform. I encourage you to get your fellow teams to enter their information there as well as whichever is your local news site, so that we can aim for as complete a statistical picture of the country as possible.

Thanks for reading and we’ll see you very soon.
