Good morning, dear readers, and welcome to Friday Statwatch, where we try to tell the story of the 2024 season through a statistical prism.

The picture is just starting to to round into focus in mid-season, especially when it comes to the offensive juggernaut that is Emmaus (Pa.). I don’t think I have ever seen three players from the same high school make our weekly listings in both goals and assists in the years we’ve done Statwatch. It’s a remarkable feat; let’s see what happens the next few weeks.

Below is a compilation of available field hockey statistics through this past Wednesday from available sources such as Berks Game Day, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, New Jersey Advance Media, the governing bodies of Kentucky and Michigan, and, of course, the easy-to-use MaxPreps.com platform. I encourage you to get your fellow teams to enter their information there as well as whichever is your local news site, so that we can aim for as complete a statistical picture of the country as possible.

MOST ASSISTS, SEASON
26 Sophia Sisco, North Caldwell West Essex (N.J.)
23 Autum Kernechel, Emmaus (Pa.)
22 Izzy Kaczor, Rumson-Fair Haven (N.J.)
22 Ava Parson, Louisville Mercy (Ky.)
22 Olivia Pifer, Louisville Mercy (Ky.)
21 Hannah Ponciroli, St. Louis Villa Duchesne (Mo.)
21 Sonny Groce, Newtown Square Delaware County Christian (Pa.)
20 Adelaide Minnella, North Caldwell West Essex (N.J.)
20 Emma Haynes, West Long Branch Shore Regional (N.J.)
19 Sylvie Notine, Rumson-Fair Haven (N.J.)
19 Emmy Horner, Emmaus (Pa.)
17 Scarlett Gilner, Chapel Hill (N.C.)
17 Lillian Willis, South Glens Falls (N.Y.)
17 Mallory Jerlicky, St. Louis Mary Institute-Country Day School (Mo.)
16 Madison Lenig, Emmaus (Pa.)
16 Sloan Fenton, Shaker Heights (Ohio)
16 Karys Craver, Lititz Warwick (Pa.)

We’re pretty sure the above list is not the most complete, especially given how many local news sources no longer publish field hockey statistics. If you see an error or omission, please feel free to send an email to us at TopOfTheCircle.com. Include some backup (a website will do), and we can make the change.

Thanks for reading and we’ll see you in seven days.
