Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot will take over as the next Liverpool boss at the end of the season after the Premier League giants agreed to a compensation package worth up to £9.4 million with his current employers, according to BBC Sport.
Personal terms are already agreed between Slot and Liverpool, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports.
Slot will succeed the hugely popular Jurgen Klopp. Klopp announced in January that he’d leave in the summer, citing fatigue, and collected silverware the following month in the League Cup. However, the Reds subsequently suffered quarterfinal exits in the FA Cup and Europa League and face an uphill task to beat Arsenal and Manchester City to the Premier League title.
Klopp was appointed on Merseyside in October 2015.

Over three seasons with Feyenoord, Slot has won the Eredivisie and KNVB Cup, and he reached the Europa Conference League final. The Rotterdam club is set to finish second in the Dutch top flight this season. The 45-year-old’s knack for developing players while preferring an attacking style of play appealed to the Liverpool hierarchy, according to BBC Sport.
The Dutchman managed Cambuur and AZ Alkmaar before he hoisted trophies with Feyenoord. Slot was the subject of reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur last summer but decided to oversee Feyenoord in the Champions League.
Liverpool were strongly linked with a move for Xabi Alonso until their ex-midfielder committed to stay at Bayer Leverkusen for longer. Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim was also considered a contender for the position, and there were reports that Brighton & Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi was in the frame.
