Ryan Garcia and Canelo Alvarez bury the hatchet
Ahead of their upcoming bouts, both Ryan Garcia and Canelo Alvarez have opted to bury the hatchet and end their ongoing feud.
Garcia previously trained under Canelo’s mentor, Eddy Reynoso, before parting ways to join Joe Goossen’s camp in early 2022, ahead of his transition to super-lightweight.
Following his departure, the Californian achieved victories against Emmanuel Tagoe and Javier Fortuna, but encountered his first career loss to Gervonta Davis in a catchweight clash, prompting another change in trainers. Currently guided by Derrick James, Garcia’s road ahead remains arduous as he gears up to challenge Devin Haney for the WBC super-lightweight championship next month.
Garcia took to Instagram to send out his thanks to ‘Canelo’ for all his help over the years.
“No amount of hate can separate our Mexican bond @canelo. Thank you Canelo for all the lessons and teachings you gave me. Also thank you to @caneloteam for all the training you helped me with, forever grateful and thankful! From the bottom of my soul. I’m going to bring the WBC title back home VIVA MEXICO.”
The undisputed supermiddleweight star was quick to respond and give his and the rest of Eddy Reynoso’s team’s support to Garcia ahead of the fight with Haney.
“Just focus and get that win, you know we love you kid.”
Kingry then replied once more.
“My big brother! No matter what I’m with you. You taught me a lot. No one can tell me otherwise. I will always respect you.”
Now both men will focus on their fights, with Garcia out on April 20th and ‘Canelo’ facing Jaime Munguia in early May.
