Scott McTominay may be set for a long spell on the sidelines, with the club worried about the severity.

Manchester United dropped more Premier League points at the weekend, drawing 1-1 at home to Burnley, putting in another pretty drab display.

Erik ten Hag simply has to be fearing for his job at this stage. The results have been awful. The fans aren’t watching exciting football, either. It’s all just a bit flat at present.

Champions League football will not happen next term. United have a chance at winning the FA Cup, though they’ll be far from favourites in that match. They may have to do it all without one of their best goal sources, too; Scott McTominay.

The midfielder was subbed on against Burnley, then had to go off with what looked like a serious injury.

Now, a top United source, @InsiderUtd1, has provided an update on that front. Apparently, the United star is set for a scan today, though the early signs are ‘slightly concerning’, with the club seemingly fearing it could be a bad one.

Check out Insider United’s tweet on the news here:

At the time, I felt like McTominay had done his knee in. If that is indeed the case, we’ll be lucky to see him again this calendar year, nevermind this season.

At the very least, I reckon McTominay is done for the term. It looked like an innocuous one that happened with nobody else around him. Those tend to be the worst types of injuries you can suffer.

Obviously, we’ll learn more as the week progresses, though I fear this is just rubbing salt into the wound and we’re going to be without Scotty Mac for the foreseeable. Summing up the season on the whole.
