Man United is eyeing Italian coach Simone Inzaghi as their next manager if they choose to replace Erik ten Hag.
Pressure is already growing on Erik ten Hag. The Manchester United manager is winless in his last three, including suffering a 3-0 battering at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The wolves are now starting to circle.
The Dutchman has run out of excuses. He’s now working with INEOS, who have heavily backed Ten Hag over the summer, delivering him some quality signings as the squad now also looks in a decent place health-wise.
The results have to improve – and quickly. If not, Ten Hag will find himself out of work. Behind the scenes, the powers that be at Old Trafford are already weighing up their potential options and it seems as though Simone Inzaghi is now of interest.
It’s the Daily Star with the claim, as they believe the 48-year-old manager has emerged as a ‘serious contender’ to become the next United boss if Ten Hag is sacked.
The media outlet believe Ten Hag’s position will be considered during the next international break, which takes place after this coming weekend’s game away at Aston Villa.
Inzaghi has done an impressive job with Inter, winning five trophies with the Serie A giants since his appointment in 2021. He also guided the Italian side to a Champions League final.
Both results and performances have been impressive, with Inter punching above their weight at the continental level, so it’s easy to see the attraction to a manager like Inzaghi.
At this point, we fans are becoming desperate. All that we ask for is a boss who can come in, control the dressing room and play attractive football. The 48-year-old coach has the potential to tick all those boxes, though will he leave his homeland?
Inzaghi has recently signed a new contract with Inter so it wouldn’t be cheap to prise him away from the Italian capital. It’s certainly an option worth exploring, though.
