Sofyan Amrabat is keen on a move back to Man United this summer.

Manchester United fans were excited when Sofyan Amrabat joined the club on loan last summer, though his early performances raised plenty of cause for concern.

Thankfully, the man from Morocco improved as the season wore on, culminating in an outstanding FA Cup final performance against Manchester City.

Questions about Amrabat’s future have been swirling ever since. United are said to be considering bringing the Fiorentina man back to the Theatre of Dreams this summer.

Now, the Manchester Evening News have provided an update on that front – and it’s encouraging for fans of the Fiorentina man.

It’s stated that the 27-year-old is ‘eager’ to seal a United return on a permanent basis, with Amrabat currently not in training with Fiorentina as he looks to seal a move away from the Serie A side.

United initially had the option to sign Amrabat in a deal worth around £17m, though that never happened. It is unclear whether the Old Trafford side plan to re-open talks to sign the Moroccan.

If a lower fee can be negotiated, a move to bring in Amrabat could make sense. He’d offer United extra solidity in that defensive midfield spot, for what would be a relatively cheap price due to his contract situation.

It can be argued that Amrabat ended the term in better form than Casemiro, so the Red Devils could look to bring the Fiorentina man back in, to keep some dressing room consistency.

It all depends on whether United value Amrabat enough, though the player seems intent on making a move back to England – with or without United.
