Two multi-time Champions League winners are set to be among the first names Man United will let go this summer.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is overseeing the dawning of a new era at Manchester United Football Club. The Failsworth-born-businessman is looking to help the good times return at Old Trafford.

Before signing new players, it looks as though the club will have to wave goodbye to some household names first. Money is tight and the club do not want to risk overspending. It certainly makes plenty of sense.

Big-name departures always felt inevitable, though talkSPORT believe a star United duo ‘head the list’ of players set for a Reds exit this summer; Casemiro and Raphael Varane.

Varane has looked pretty decent when starting games, though his injury issues are a real problem. The Frenchman simply cannot stay fit for prolonged periods of time. Ask him to play multiple games a week and it’s just not happening…

Casemiro, on the other hand, looks old all of a sudden… His form has been a real concern all season. I just assumed he’d play his way out of his funk. However, that hasn’t happened and he just doesn’t look anything close to the player he was last term.

With no Champions League football for next season looking like a real possibility, it feels like the best business decision. These guys are two of the top earners. They will not want to settle for Europa League football, either. It just feels like the best choice at this point in time.

Although it would be sad to see two perennial winners leaving the club, all it does is solidify the pure fact that this is a real dawning of a new era at Old Trafford.

Do you think letting this pair leave makes sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
