Stephen Curry is eligible for a one-year, $62.6 million extension to his contract with the Golden State Warriors that has $115.3 million remaining over the next two seasons. Curry recently returned to the United States from Paris after winning his first gold medal and plans to be away over the next few weeks, which will delay any possibility of discussing an extension in the short-term.Â
Curry will dictate the timeline of discussions on a deal with a deadline of October 21st for agreement before the sides can reengage after the season.
The Warriors have privately and publicly maintained the position that they will offer Curry the $62.6 million year onto his contract if he wants it. Curry will be playing in his his age-38 season on that extension.
If Curry waits on an extension, it could allow him to apply extra pressure to Golden State’s efforts to improve the roster. Curry is represented by Jeff Austin.Â
Curry previously signed extensions with the Warriors in 2012 and 2021, as well as a free agent contract in 2017.Â
