The world will witness a spectacle when the inaugural 2024 WPV Beach ParaVolley Men’s World Championship begins in Chongqing, crowning the first-ever beach paravolley men’s world champions.
The General Technical Meeting, held on Wednesday, May 29, finalised the schedule for this historic event, with the results of the draw determining the placements for the participating teams, as follows:
- A1 – India
- A2 – Poland 2
- A3 – Latvia
- A4 – Poland 1
- A5 – Slovakia
- A6 – Australia
The tournament will start on Thursday, May 30, with a thrilling lineup of preliminary round matches. The first match at 14:30local time sees India face off against Australia. At 15:30, Poland 2 take on Slovakia in what is expected to be a tightly contested match. Following this, at 16:30, Latvia battle Poland 1, and India return to the sand to face Slovakia at 18:30.
As the day progresses, the opening ceremony at 19:30 will officially mark the commencement of the championship, celebrating the athletes and the significance of this inaugural event. The competition resumes at 20:00 with a unique matchup between the two Poland squads – Poland 2 and Poland 1, a clash that promises to be both intense and emotional. The final match of the day sees Latvia competing against Australia to round off an action-packed first day.
The competition follows a single-round robin preliminary format, where the top two teams from the preliminary round will advance directly to the semifinals. The third- and sixth-ranked teams, along with the fourth- and fifth-ranked teams, will compete in the quarterfinals.
The semifinals will feature the second-ranked team against the winner of the match between the third and sixth-ranked teams, and the top-ranked squad against the winner between the fourth and fifth-ranked teams.
On June 2, three decisive matches will determine the final positions in the competition. The grand finale will crown the first beach paravolley men’s world champions
