Left-back Tyrell Malacia is now edging closer to making his return from a lengthy injury layoff.
April 2023. That was the last time we saw Tyrell Malacia take to the field for Manchester United Football Club.
The defender has been out with a knee issue ever since. The Dutchman would eventually undergo two surgeries on the problem, with Erik ten Hag and United remaining very tight-lipped on the situation.
Slowly but surely, Malacia has been working hard behind the scenes as he looks to make a successful return to action. We’ve seen photos of him back at Carrington putting in the work, though we’ve never really been given a firm date in regard to when to expect him back out on the turf.
However this week, Voetbal International, via Sport Witness, believe that the United defender is now ‘very close’ to making an injury comeback, in what would be a huge boost for the Reds.
They state that Malacia could even return before the end of October, which is just two weeks away.
United have been taking their time with Malacia, which makes perfect sense given he has been sidelined for so long, though if he doesn’t return at the end of this month, he should make his comeback in November.
The Old Trafford side currently have no fit left-backs available. Luke Shaw is still on the mend, while Noussair Mazraoui is also out for the next few weeks after undergoing heart surgery.
Although Malacia will need time to get back to his best, it’s great to hear that he is now closing in on a return to competitive action.
