It’s just not Burnley’s season.

The Clarets nearly earned three precious points Saturday that would’ve offered them slight hope of clambering out of the relegation mire. But disaster struck while Burnley tried to drain the clock by evading Brighton & Hove Albion with simple passes around their backline.

Arijanet Muric added another costly error to a concerning catalog of gaffes over his career when he let Sander Berge’s back pass dribble into the net via his right foot, gifting Brighton a 79th-minute equalizer in a 1-1 draw. Muric was playing in goal ahead of James Trafford, a £15-million acquisition from Manchester City last summer.

Burnley are six points adrift of safety in 19th place.
