FC Barcelona legend, Xavi Hernandez, is a possible managerial candidate for Man United should they choose to move on from Erik ten Hag.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock recently, you’ll know that the pressure is building on Erik ten Hag following a poor start to the campaign.
The Dutchman delivered a trophy last term, though the overall form from his Red Devils is a genuine cause for concern. No doubt behind the scenes, INEOS are weighing up their options.
According to the Daily Mail, FC Barcelona legend, Xavi Hernandez, is now an option.
They state that the out-of-work 44-year-old manager has emerged as a ‘potential target’ for United, should they decide to move on from Ten Hag.
Apparently, intermediaries have made contact with the Spaniard on a couple of occasions over the last few months.
Publicly, United have backed Ten Hag though it does appear that behind the scenes, the club are looking at other possibilities.
Xavi is currently out of work so it feels like the logical choice at this point in time, with the iconic playmaker wanting to manage somewhere other than Spain in future.
The man is somewhat unproven in the managerial world, though you can imagine he’d bring an attractive style of play to the Theatre of Dreams should United decide to move in that direction.
I personally feel it’s only a matter of time before Ten Hag loses his job. It’s hard to win back the trust once you’ve already lost it. Is Xavi the man for the job? Who knows, but it does make sense to consider him as an option at this point in time.
