Man United winger Antony could attract January attention from fellow Premier League side, Newcastle United.

Manchester United did a pretty good job at trimming down the playing squad over the summer. The likes of Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho, Donny van de Beek and many others have left, raising some additional funds for Erik ten Hag to re-invest into the dressing room.

There can be no doubt that INEOS still have plenty of work ahead. Other fringe players remain at the club. Some of those just aren’t good enough.

One man who likely falls into that bracket is Antony. The Brazilian has flattered to deceive since his £80m move to Old Trafford a couple of summers ago.

Now, according to Caught Offside, the winger is attracting interest from Newcastle United. According to their information, the Premier League side are now ‘considering’ a January move to sign the 24-year-old United star.

A deal for Antony will only happen if Newcastle’s proposed move to sign ex-Red, Anthony Elanga, falls through.

It’s claimed United are now ‘open’ to selling Antony, with the Reds wanting a deal worth around £40m to let the Brazilian leave.

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is said to ‘appreciate’ Antony’s skills, while believing he’d be a ‘valuable’ addition to the squad.

What’s interesting is that Antony himself is said to be ‘keen’ about a potential move to the North East, while Newcastle United have no issue paying the asking price.

Although Antony would be moving to a direct Premier League rival, I’d snap their hand off for a £40m offer for the ex-Ajax man. Simply put, he hasn’t been good enough. Although he has massive talent, selling him to a fierce enemy is a gamble worth taking.
