Abass Baraou vs Macaulay McGowan moves to a new venue on June 14
Abass Baraou’s maiden defence of the EBU European Super Welterweight title on Friday, June 14 will now take place at a new venue.
Baraou faces Macaulay McGowan, live and free on Channel 5 next month, with the contest originally due to be held at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester.
But circumstances outside the control of Wasserman Boxing mean the stacked night of action is moving to the nearby Toughsheet Community Stadium in Bolton.
The June 14 date remains the same, all tickets purchased for the original venue will remain valid in Bolton, and the stacked card is unaffected by the change in event location.
German hero Baraou once again goes into the lion’s den against Manchester favourite McGowan, having won the vacant belt in a Fight of the Year contender against Sam Eggington in Telford, earlier this year.
And the electric European title clash – which starts straight after the opening game of Euro 2024 between Germany and Scotland – is supported by a hard-hitting undercard:
Former world super middleweight champion Lerrone Richards takes on the battle-hardened Steed Woodall and aims to deliver a statement about his plans on becoming a two-time title holder.
One of British boxing’s brightest prospects, the dazzling Dan Toward, is back in action after a big KO win last time out.
Ryan Kelly and Gerome Warburton promise fireworks in their Commonwealth Silver Middleweight title collision.
And Darlington’s Ben Marksby, Leeds debutant Ellis Price and rising Liverpool star Mikie Tallon also form part of the talent-laden undercard in Bolton on June 14.
Baraou vs McGowan, EBU European Super Welterweight title, Friday, June 14 in Bolton, live and free-to-air on Channel 5.
