Despite an outstanding performance in the NBA Finals, Jaylen Brown expressed little surprise at not being selected for Team USA’s roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Following Kawhi Leonard’s withdrawal, USA Basketball opted to include Derrick White, who recently clinched the NBA championship with the Boston Celtics, alongside Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday.
Brown, reflecting on the decision, shared his reaction: “I wasn’t surprised, but my reaction was that I was happy for D White. It’s dope to have so much of our guys on there, so I was happy for those guys. But I wasn’t surprised,” as reported by Jared Weiss.
The Celtics forward acknowledged the depth of talent within the national team selection pool, highlighting his support for White’s inclusion despite his own omission.
Team USA’s decision comes amidst preparations to defend their Olympic gold medal in basketball, with training camps and exhibition games intensifying ahead of the Paris Games.
