Man United have eyes on Celtic star, Matt O’Riley, ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United Football Club have some big decisions to make this coming summer. No doubt changes will be made, at both board level and within the dressing room, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to kickstart this new era with real positivity.

As we gear up towards a massive transfer period for the Old Trafford side, the transfer rumours are now starting to ramp up in frequency.

The latest story comes from Glasgow World, who claim Man United are keen on Celtic midfielder, Matt O’Riley.

According to the report, United are eyeing a move to sign the 23-year-old Scottish Premier League star, with the Reds having monitored the player since 2022.

O’Riley joined Celtic from MK Dons a couple of years ago now, having greatly impressed in both League One and SPL during his young career.

The Hoops fended off heavy interest in O’Riley from Atletico Madrid recently, with the Scottish league leaders trying to keep ahold of one of their key players. However, they may eventually be powerless, particularly if the right offer comes in.

This feels like an astute, relatively inexpensive signing. United need depth in midfield and O’Riley is someone who could come in and offer genuine quality off the bench.

Aged just 23, O’Riley is still developing and growing as a footballer. Where better to do that than at United?

Sofyan Amrabat will not be here next summer. I’d wager Christian Eriksen is off out, too. Casemiro’s future is also far from secure. There’s a real opening within that United midfield and perhaps making a move for O’Riley does make a lot of sense.

Do you think a Man United move to sign Matt O’Riley would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
