Ohara Davies ready to jump in the ring with anyone: “Either big fights or nothing!”

Ohara Davies (25-3, 18KO) is looking to build after a difficult loss last time out and has now been giving an update on his immediate fight plans.

Davies’ highly anticipated American debut ended abruptly in Las Vegas back in February when his aim of claiming the WBA interim super lightweight title was dashed in just 113 seconds.

The fight took a dramatic turn early on when a precisely timed left hand from Venezuelan veteran Ismael Barroso sent Davies crashing to the canvas and signalled the beginning of the end for the British fighter.

Despite scrambling to his feet after the initial knockdown, Davies found himself in trouble once again. Barroso capitalised and sealed the victory with another knockdown.

While Ohara’s American adventure may have ended in disappointment, his resilience and determination means he is back and ready to go once again.

He spoke to Boxing Social about what might be next, “Still signed to Golden Boy, yes. I spoke to Lee [Eaton] a couple of days ago; he phoned me and had some good names.

“He said he’d been asked if I was ready to take this guy. He wasn’t sure if I was ready and I said hell f***ing yes, hell f***ing yes, go back to them and don’t tell them I am interested, tell them I would love that fight, I would love it.”

He then spoke about the impact his last fight has had on his reputation, “All these people have seen my last fight and they’re judging my boxing ability on that. It doesn’t matter who I fight next, they are in deep sh*t. I learned some things in that fight and have been working on them behind the scene.

“Whoever is in there with me next is in deep s**t. I am only in this for the biggest fights I can get. I’m not here for rebuilding fights. Either big fights or nothing.”

With the likes of recent victor Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney and Teofimo Lopez in and around his weight, there are plenty of big fights out there for Ohara should he get back to his best.
