One of the most sought-after coaches in England is coming off the market.
Kieran McKenna will end speculation about his future by signing a contract to remain at newly promoted Ipswich Town, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.
The English coach had been linked to a trio of Premier League clubs. He was considering offers to fill vacancies at Brighton and Chelsea before delaying his decision to see if he had a chance at succeeding Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. He previously spent five seasons at United as a youth coach and then as a member of Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s backroom staff.
But McKenna decided to commit his future at Portman Road, signing a fresh long-term contract with last season’s Championship runners-up.
The 38-year-old will oversee Ipswich’s first Premier League campaign since 2002.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly poised to name Leicester City coach Enzo Maresca as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor. And reports over Graham Potter’s potential return to coach Brighton have picked up steam.
