Manchester United are prepared to sell Christian Eriksen for only €5 million this summer.

After purchasing Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro earlier this month, the Red Devils find themselves in a position where they need to sell to buy to comply with strict PSR restrictions.

Erik ten Hag is eager to strengthen his midfield with the number six spot beside Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes still very much up for grabs. It was reported here that the club is preparing for Casemiro to take up that role against Fulham on opening day of the new Premier League season but this is hardly the club’s first choice option.

Therefore, the sales of midfielders such as Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen could help fund moves for the likes of Manuel Ugarte, who appears to be the side’s number one target for the middle of the park.

A recent report from CaughtOffside demonstrates how determined United are to shed certain players this window by claiming that “Manchester United are ready to part ways with experienced midfielder Christian Eriksen this summer, with both Anderlecht and his former club Ajax showing an interest in securing his signature.”

The Belgian side have reportedly already held discussions with the Dane’s inner cicle and have learned that he would be open to leaving the club if the right deal could be struck.

“Sources close to the situation have informed CaughtOffside that Eriksen could be allowed to leave for €5m this summer, with the Red Devils prepared to sell the 32-year-old on the cheap as they signed him on a free two years ago, so could still make a small profit on the player.”

The Danish international has already asserted in a recent interview that this will be his last season at Old Trafford.

The Anderlecht boss has also publicly spoken out on his interest in the player and on how he wishes to use his contacts to secure a potential deal for the creative midfielder.

Eriksen’s former side Ajax are also keen to sign him but would prefer a loan deal which is not much use to United as his contract expires next year, so they would require a rather generous loan fee to make a deal worthwhile from their perspective.

Eriksen is still very much an able passer and he impressed in a recent pre-season match against Arsenal.

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was also one of his country’s better performers in Euro 2024, so he could still add much to a side like Anderlecht or Ajax in a less taxing league than the Premier League.
